Wohlfahrtiimonas chitiniclastica are aerobic, non-motile, gram-negative rods, first described by Toth et al. in 2008. A small number of cases W. infections have been reported worldwide. These bacteria transmitted through fly larvae open wounds skin and/or mucosal surfaces on the host. is pathogenic to humans and can cause severe diseases like septicemia osteomyelitis. To the Editor: We report the identification of Wohlfahrtiimonas chitiniclastica bacteria in a sample of blood obtained from a patient in Surrey, United Kingdom. We highlight the importance of recognizing unusual bacteria that are associated with the larvae of parasitic flies as a potential causative agent of severe infection in patients with myiasis in the United Kingdom and possibly worldwide....
متن کاملPedunculated Chorangioma of Placenta - an Extremely Rare Case Report
Pedunculated chorangioma is extremely rare type of chorangioma. To the best of our knowledge, no case has been reported in Indian literature. We report one such rare case in a twenty two year old primi gravida who delivered a full term live female baby by lower section caesarian section (LSCS). Gross examination revealed a nodular mass attached to the placenta by a pedicle. Histopathological ex...

We report the first case of fulminant sepsis due to Wohlfahrtiimonas chitiniclastica. This case is also the first one reported in South America. We emphasize the importance of recognizing bacteria that live in the larvae of a parasitic fly as the causative agent of severe infections in homeless patients.
